The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has officially announced the schedule for the Amarnath Yatra 2025—one of the most revered Hindu pilgrimages. This year, the yatra will begin on July 3 and conclude on August 9, spanning 38 days.

About the Holy Amarnath Shrine

Located at an altitude of 12,756 feet and around 141 km from Srinagar, the Amarnath Cave draws lakhs of devotees each year. Pilgrims undertake this sacred journey during the Shravani Mela in July–August (the Hindu month of Shravan) to offer prayers to Baba Barfani—the naturally formed ice Shivling inside the cave. The yatra traditionally begins with the ‘Pratham Pujan’ ritual.

    • Located in Anantnag district

    • Traditional and scenic but longer

  2. Baltal Route (14 km)

    • Located in Ganderbal district

    • Shorter but steeper and more physically demanding
